Ethiopia's Olympic 5000m/10000m champion Tirunesh Dibaba will make a surprising return to action when she lines up for the women's 5000m heats on Wednesday. The 23-year old, who had withdrawn from action after suffering a recurrence of a leg injury in training ten days ago, arrived in Berlin on Thursday and has since done two training sessions including a hard one on Saturday morning. "Tirunesh will compete in the 5000m," confirmed her manager Mark Wetmore after the women's 10000m on Saturday evening. Tirunesh will have a difficult assignment on hand in the women's 10000m. Her Ethiopian teammates Meselech Melkamu and Wude Ayalew could only finish second and third in the women's 10000m on Saturday thus missing the chance of winning all gold medals in the women's and men's 5000m/10000m. |
